"Assistance League Preschool has been
very beneficial to me in many ways.  As a
single father as well as a first time father,
things are new to me as they are to my 3½ year-old daughter.  The ladies at Assistance League have been extremely helpful with questions and advise.  They are very easy to talk to which makes it easier for me to voice concerns or ask questions.

My daughter started only 4 months ago
and has already improved immensely on her motor skills, recognition of letters and
numbers and on speech.  She talks about the teachers constantly and what they told them  at school about letters, numbers, etc.

I couldn’t have asked for a better staff or
program to teach my child."

I played.  I sat down on the carpet and
played with my friend Josh.  We write our “D”s.  We did another paper where we
colored all the things on the page that
started with the letter “D.”

KOB An Educational
   Puppet Troupe

After each skit, the puppets invite the children to ask questions. The students react openly and sincerely to these sensitive presentations and often follow up with letters, too.

"Thank you for a wonderful show of puppets on Thursday. I learned that graffiti is bad to do. When you see somebody drawing on the wall you tell your mom or dad to call the police. I think that your puppet show was funny. I liked the part when the boy on the wheelchair when he did the wheelie. It was cool."

ALAV  - Kids on the BlockTM Project

Assistance League of Antelope Valley discontinued it's Kids on the Block project in January 2009 after 20 years of service to the third graders of local school districts. Lack of time for outside programs in school played a big part of the decision to discontinue the program.
