An Educational Puppet Troupe |
|

After each skit, the puppets invite the children to ask questions. The
students react openly and sincerely to these sensitive presentations
and often follow up with letters, too.
George wrote:
"Thank you for a wonder full show of puppets on Thursday. I learned
that graffiti is bad to do. When you see somebody drawing on the wall
you tell your mom or dad to call the police. I think that your puppet
show was funny. I liked the part when the boy on the wheelchair when
he did the wheelie. It was cool." |

ALAV Adopted The Kids on the Block Project in
1989
Our educational curricula help to create
positive attitudes and behavioral change for present and future
generations. Each year, the “Kids” meet over 6000 students
throughout the Antelope Valley.
Assistance League of Antelope Valley has an energetic troupe of
puppeteers and an active support crew. Members present The Kids on
the Block to third graders in 5 school districts and several private
schools. The child-size “Kids” offer scripts on a variety of
subjects, including physical disabilities (cerebral palsy,) learning
differences (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) and social
problems (recognizing and dealing with bullies, graffiti prevention
and stranger safety.)
